The musical is set in Guiyang, China, and New York in the 1950s and follows the story of Hung-Ki Pu, the son of a disgraced businessman, and Jane Hua, heiress to the Mao Tai liquor fortune, who are a young couple torn apart by parental disapproval, forcing Hung-Ki to make a name for himself in America.
